Evansville East WWTP Expansion
Treatment Plant Facilities
The project included several plantwide upgrades to increase peak wet weather treatment capacity from 26 MGD to 40 MGD. Powers designed Secondary Control Building improvements, including an evaluation of the existing return activated sludge (RAS) and waste activated sludge (WAS) systems, the design of replacement pumps, and the reconfiguration of influent and effluent piping to accommodate increased treatment capacities. Evaluated system head-pump capacity curves for various flow scenarios to optimize pump and pipe sizing. Coordinated with pump manufacturers to evaluate multiple alternatives. Prepared construction specifications and construction drawings. Also designed plant water system upgrades, including the development of a hydraulic model to evaluate existing and proposed system demands and the design of two replacement vertical turbine pumps. Coordinated with pump manufacturers, prepared system specifications, and developed construction drawings. Designed miscellaneous site improvements, including fencing, sidewalks, a storm sewer relocation and other drainage structures, and a new access drive from Waterworks Road. Prepared the erosion and sediment control plan for the entire project.
