IND Stormwater & Deicing Capacity Expansion
Stormwater Management Infrastructure
Powers provided engineering analysis and design support for the expansion of existing stormwater and deicing runoff management facilities at the Indianapolis International Airport, which included detention facilities, conveyance piping, and a 40 MGD pump station. Powers scope of work included hydrologic and hydraulic modeling services to analyze the following: updates to a 527-acre model to re-validate a previously approved Direct Discharge Analysis for Center Creek; modeling updates and analyses to re-evaluate and confirm the existing Center Creek Stormwater Quality Treatment Structure (SWQTS) performance capabilities; modeling updates and sizing of a new SWQTS at the Seerley Creek discharge site; and an analysis of pre-development vs. post-development conditions at the Hanna Storage Facility site to design post-construction stormwater management BMPs and relocate an existing tributary to Dollar Hide Creek to accommodate a new deicing runoff storage facility. Powers was also responsible for the design and construction document development of the new Seerley Creek SWQTS, which included a 60 cfs capacity Vortechs stormwater treatment system.
