IU Health Bloomington Regional Academic Health Center
Stormwater Management Infrastructure
Indiana University Health (IU Health), along with Indiana University (IU), desired to replace the existing IU Health Bloomington Hospital with a new state-of-the-art hospital facility in conjunction with a medical education and training complex to support IU’s health science programs. The Regional Academic Health Center includes the 115,000 square-foot IU Academic Health Science Building and the adjacent 695,000 square-foot hospital building on 45 acres of IU's campus. Powers provided stormwater management engineering design services to support the development of the new health center, including: the development of a hydrologic and hydraulic model to assess pre-development and post-developed conditions; design of a new site-wide drainage system, including storm sewer and inlet sizing, to manage runoff onsite; and assisting in the design of the stormwater detention basin by utilizing the model to determine sizing and flow control requirements to meet local drainage ordinances.
